KUALA LUMPUR (Malaysia Airlines) - The steep escalation in jet fuel prices has hit an all time high and is putting tremendous pressure on airlines worldwide managing their cost. Measures are being taken to mitigate this escalating increase including adjustment in the fuel surcharge rates.
Malaysia Airlines is compelled to revise the fuel surcharge rates as follows with effect from 14 September 2005:
Tickets Sold In Malaysia
Tickets Sold Outside Malaysia
Travel from Europe, Australia & New Zealand, North & South America, Middle-East and Africa into Malaysia – from USD28 to USD45 per sector.
Effective Date ·
The revised surcharge is applicable for tickets issued on/after 14 September 2005, for travel on/after 14 September 2005;
The surcharge will be collected at the point of ticketing.
Domestic surcharge rates remain unchanged at RM15 for travel between Peninsula Malaysia and Sabah & Sarawak as well as RM7.50 for travel within Peninsula Malaysia and Sabah & Sarawak including Rural Air Services.
The national airline is also submitting a proposal to the Government on a revision of the fuel surcharge quantum in view that fuel prices continue to rise.
