Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific to launch freighter service to Beijing Nov 15
Hong Kong (XFNews-ASIA) - Cathay Pacific Airways said it will operate a freighter service between Hong Kong and Beijing starting Nov 15 after gaining approval from the Chinese government to launch a new twice-weekly service.
Ron Mathison, Cathay Pacific director and general manager for cargo, said the addition of Beijing to the airline's freighter network "will open up new opportunities for shippers in the north of China and strengthen Hong Kong's position as the leading air cargo hub in Asia."
Mathison also said Cathay Pacific will operate a daily passenger service to Shanghai from Hong Kong starting Dec 1.
The airline operates a freighter service to and from Shanghai, currently with 12 flights a week.
It also operates 14 passenger flights to Beijing each week and a thrice-weekly passenger service to Xiamen.
