Global travel distribution system suppliers and online travel companies continue to announce new contract wins, with Amadeus wrapping up an e-Commerce contract with Air Canada, Nok Air signing up for Amadeus’ new data solution, Virgin America announcing a deal with Sabre and WestJet signing a distribution agreement with Expedia yesterday.
With other contract wins from Travelport and TravelSky in the past few weeks, and the dispute between American Airlines and Sabre and Expedia put on the back-burner thanks to a court injunction, shares in online travel agencies and GDSs are showing more strength. Expedia shares rose 0.6% yesterday, while Amadeus rose 0.4% to a two-month high. TravelSky technology was up 0.4%
Elsewhere, Aircastle shares continued to rise. The company announced late last week that it expects its first half results to be ahead of initial forecasts, thanks to a recovery in the commercial aircraft broking market.
