European airports lower, Macquarie Airports stabilises, Beijing Airport continues to rise

Shares in European airports were generally lower yesterday as European stock markets lost ground. Aeroports de Paris and Fraport led the decline, closing down 2.1% and 1.9%, respectively. Hainan Meilan International Airport’s shares fell 1.2%, following its 11% leap on Monday. Macquarie Airports’ shares stabilised yesterday as investors come to terms with MAp’s plans to separate from the Macquarie Group.

Elsewhere in the region, Infratil’s shares were steady yesterday as the infrastructure investment company reported Jun-2009 traffic for its investment airports:

Meanwhile, Beijing Airport and Shanghai Airports’ shares closed higher yesterday, gaining 5.3% and 1.8%, while Guangzhou Airport bounced back, as the Chinese Government reportedly prepares to pump more cash into the Big Three airlines. According to CAAC, Guangzhou Airport reported a double-digit increase in passenger numbers in Jun-2009.
