Americas Traffic Watch - Capacity growth divide in 2008: Network carriers’ shrinking; LCCs growing
Allegiant’s capacity (ASM) growth so far in 2008 has been the strongest among the North American carriers (although off a small base), with 25.6% growth. Meanwhile, AirTran has now become the second fastest growing airline in North America, with 11.0% year-on-year capacity growth, overtaking WestJet (+10.3% year-on-year capacity increase), whose capacity growth was more marked in the first six months of 2008.
