Airport shares worldwide ended the week on a positive note on Friday with Airports of Thailand and Japan Airport Terminal Co (JAT) surging 9.3% and 8.8%, respectively.
Australia Infrastructure Fund’s shares rose 2.6% following the release of Melbourne Airport’s Aug-2009 traffic, which showed a 1.4% increase in domestic passenger traffic:

- Domestic: n/a, +1.4% year-on-year;
- International: n/a, +7.2%.
Elsewhere in the Asia Pacific region, Chinese airports’ shares were generally higher, led by Xiamen (+1.8%) and Shenzhen (+1.7%) airports. Hainan Airport went against the trend, closing down 2.4% on Friday.

- Cargo volume: 26,810 tonnes, -14.2%;
- Aircraft movements: 23,681, -3.2%.
Zurich Airport’s competitor, Vienna Airport’s shares gained 4.3% in trading on Friday. The airport reported mixed Aug-2009 traffic results with both passenger numbers and aircraft movements showing signs of further deterioration, while the cargo volume decline eased in Aug-2009 to -4%.
