Polynesian Airlines

Country: Samoa

Polynesian Airlines is a Samoan regional airline based at Apia Fagili'i Airport. Polynesian is the national carrier of Samoa and is 100% owned by the Government of Samoa. The airline formerly provided international services throughout the Pacific Islands, New Zealand, Australia and the US, however, in 2005, the government signed an agreement with Virgin Blue Holdings (now Virgin Australia) to take over international jet services previously provided by Polynesian. The airline operates short haul scheduled and charter services with a fleet of light turboprop aircraft. In addition to its airline operations, Polynesian also manages Fagali'i Airport. Samoa's PM Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi stated Polynesian's name will be changed to Samoa Airways as part of an MoU with Fiji Airways.
