Air Chathams was established in 1984 to provide air service between the Chatham Islands and mainland New Zealand. It operates both passenger and cargo services, and in 2008 launched subsidiary Chathams Pacific to handle its operations to Tonga. Air Chathams is based at Chatham Island Karewa Airport and has a hub at Wellington International Airport.
