Vienna Airport up as AUA acquisition nears completion, Fraport lower, AdP and Ferrovial remain down

Analysis

Airport shares were mixed yesterday with TAV Airports, Hainan Meilan International Airport and Vienna Airport leading the way, gaining 3.8%, 3.3% and 3.1%, respectively. Korean Airport Service Co (-5.7%) lost ground following the previous day's 8.5% gain, while Copenhagen Airport fell 1.4%.

Vienna Airport's gain followed the announcement by the European Commission that it has reached an agreement with Lufthansa on the airline's takeover of struggling Austrian Airlines, the largest operator at the airport. Austrian Airlines reported grim financial results for the quarter and half year ended 30-Jun-2009, with a greater than 20% slump in revenues and tripling of net losses for the respective periods.

In the Asia Pacific region, Airports of Thailand, Australian Infrastructure Fund and Shanghai Airport also lost ground, easing 0.8%, 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively.

Selected airports daily share price movements (% change): 04-Aug-2009
