The US Department of Transportation (DoT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have formally abandoned the Bush Administration's proposal to implement a 'slot auction' plan for New York's three airports - Newark, La Guardia and JFK. Since the earliest announcement of the slot auction plan in 2008, it has drawn heavy opposition from almost all concerned parties and resulted in several legal challenges to the proposed rules, announced in Oct-2008.
