2006 was a banner year for Hamburg Airport. It recorded above-average

passenger growth and positive financial results. Passenger numbers increased

12% year-on-year, helped by traffic flows from the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Revenue

rose 9.7%, backed not only by increased passenger traffic, but also by very

positive results from non-aeronautical sources of revenue, such as retail, F&B

and advertising. The positive revenue growth, combined with strict cost management,

led to a 22.4% rise in net profit.
