Singapore Airlines records increase in overall load factor

Analysis

SINGAPORE (XFNews) - Singapore Airlines (SIA) said its overall load factor in December rose 70.9% from 68.3% a year earlier. Its passenger load factor during the month improved to 80.2% from 79.0% in December 2004 as capacity rose 2.7% year-on-year, it said.

Cargo load factor rose to 65.6% in December from 61.2% a year earlier.

"The capacity increase arose from the injection of additional flights on existing routes to Beijing, Fukuoka, Taipei, Hanoi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Penang and Perth," SIA said.

"In addition, Singapore Airlines introduced four-times weekly services to Hyderabad in India from the 30th of October 2005," it said.

SIA said that most of its routes' regions saw improvement in passenger load factors.

"The Americas continued to outperform, with strong demand for the Singapore-USA services, particularly for the non-stop services, with the load factor growing by 4.4 percentage points over the same month last year," SIA said.
