Peru continues privatising its airports


Attention is turning again to Peru's regional airports, after the:

2001 agreement with Lima Airport Partners' (a consortium composed of

Bechtel Enterprises International, Fraport and Cosapi) for a 30-year concession

to develop, manage and operate Lima Jorge Chavez Airport in 2001; and,

Aug-06 decision by ProInversión to award Swissport/GBH Investments

consortium a 25-year contract to operate 12 regional airports in Peru. Under

the contract, the consortium agreed to invest USD115 million in infrastructure,

while the Government agreed to provide USD9.4 million p/a in subsidies to

cover operational costs.
