Mihin Lanka plans to resume operations in Dec-08

Premium Analysis

The Sri Lankan Government has indicated it aims to solve budget airline Mihin Lanka's financial crises and help the carrier resume services in Dec-08. It suspended operations in Apr-08 after reportedly defaulting on lease payments for its last A321, the LCC's sole aircraft, which was seized by Bulgarian lessor, BH Air. The LCC originally planned to resume operations in Jul-08 to five destinations, including Dubai, the Maldives, Singapore, Trichy and Trivandrum, and expected to break-even by Feb-09.
