Los Angeles World Airports reports traffic growth

SYDNEY (Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation) - Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) reports the following traffic highlights in the nine months ended 30-Sep-05:

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX):

  • Passenger numbers: 46.7 million, +1.9% year-on-year:
    • Domestic: 33.3 million, steady, attributed to decreased services affected by high jet fuel prices;
    • International: 13.4 million, +7.6%.
  • Cargo volume: 1.5 million tonnes, +2.1%.

Ontario International Airport (ONT):

  • Passenger numbers: 5.4 million, +3.6%;
  • Cargo volume: 418,909 tonnes, -6.8%.

LAWA forecasts passenger numbers for the 12 months ending 31-Dec-05 at LAX to reach 62 million, while ONT is expected to exceed 7 million passengers.
