Japan Airport Terminal to open outlet in Chengdu

Analysis

Japan Airport Terminal, operator of Tokyo Haneda Airport's terminal buildings, has announced plans to open an outlet at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, China. It will be JAT's first overseas venture.

JAT signed an MoU with Sichuan Province Airport Group in Aug-2010 for the management of a retail and wholesale business at the airport. That agreement was finalised on 30-Jan-2011, according to a report in Japanese newspaper, Nikkan Koku. It is planning to open a shop in a general area in the passenger terminal in late Mar-2011 to sell Japanese cosmetics, electric appliances, character goods and other products. JAT's shares eased 1.3% yesterday.
