Fraport shares decline – Frankfurt Airport reports mixed traffic results

Shares in German airport operator, Fraport, lost 2.6% on Friday, upon the release of its traffic report for Frankfurt Airport and amid wider losses on European equity markets.

While passenger numbers and cargo volumes rose in Dec-2009, passenger traffic at the airport declined 4.7% year-on-year for the 12 months ended 31-Dec-2009. Cargo volume at Frankfurt reduced 10.6% year-on-year in 2009.

Fraport traffic highlights include:

  • Dec-2009:
    • Passenger numbers: 5.1 million, +4.3% year-on-year;
    • Cargo volume: 204,494 tonnes, +24.4%;
    • Aircraft movements: 50,397, +3.0%;
  • 2009:
    • Passenger numbers: 73.7 million, -2.6%;
    • Cargo volume: 2.1 million tonnes, -9.7%;
    • Aircraft movements: 674,982, -2.5%;

Also in Europe, shares in Aeroports de Paris dipped 1.4% after Barclays raised its price target from EUR52 to EUR56. Barclays also raised Abertis from 'equal-weight' to 'overweight'. Its shares were down 1.9% on Friday.
