flydubai encouraged by survey in favour of LCCs, but India operations delayed

Premium Analysis

With the growth in number and in operations of budget airlines in the Gulf region - in the midst of the recession-induced slowdown in travel, an increasing number of UAE travellers are opting to use the services of LCCs, as opposed to full service carriers, according to a June 2009 survey by market research company, YouGov. The company said that business class use has been reducing significantly, providing a great opportunity for LCCs to thrive, with the timing of the launch of flydubai fitting perfectly with the current economic situation.
