EU 'still analysing' SkyTeam airline alliance responses in antitrust probe
Brussels (Thomson Financial) - The European Commission said it is "still analysing" responses received over commitments from members of the SkyTeam airline alliance as part of its antitrust probe.
"We are still analysing the responses received to the commitments published last autumn," EU competition commissioner Neelie Kroes' spokesman Jonathan Todd told reporters.
Todd said the commission published the commitments made by the eight members of the alliance last October. These were designed to facilitate new entry on routes, to allay commission concerns regarding possible restrictive business practices.
The commission opened the probe in June 2006 because it was concerned that there were practices on certain airline routes which violated business practice rules. Airlines under the spotlight include Alitalia SpA, Air France-KLM, Delta Air Lines Inc and Northwest Airlines Corp.
