Duty free markets help lift Pernod Ricard results

Pernod Ricard reported a strong result for the six months ended 31-Dec-2010, thanks to strong growth in Asian markets and better duty free results. The company reported a 13% year-on-year increases in revenue, including a 29% increase in the Asia Pacific/rest of the world, and a 15% boost in sales in the Americas.

The "outstanding" Asia/rest of the world growth was driven by "very strong development" in China, India, Vietnam, Taiwan and duty-free markets, including some one off events. Shares in Pernod Ricard were down 0.9% on Friday, while shares in Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH Group) were down 1%.
