Copenhagen Airports adopting new M&A strategy; focus on east, central Europe

Analysis

COPENHAGEN (XFNews) - Copenhagen Airports AS is adopting a new acquisitions strategy, newswire RB-Boersen said, citing comments by Kjeld Binger, who heads the group's international operations, at a capital markets day presentation.

The group's greatest focus is now on east and central Europe, he said.

Under the new strategy, called 'The Winning Concept', Copenhagen Airports will no longer just invest in airports where it can get a very high yield quickly.

These investments include Mexico's Aeroportuario del Suresta (Asur) and the UK's Newcastle International Airport, as well as two airports at Varna and Bourgas in Bulgaria, which Copenhagen Airports expects to take over finally at the end of this month.

The opportunities for such investments are becoming increasingly limited, he said.

There are few areas where the group will not make investments, Binger said, adding that it would not itself make investments in Latin America, but may invest through Asur.
