CAAC considers allowing foreign ticket vendors to use own systems

Analysis

CAAC is reportedly looking at adjusting the regulations limiting the use of foreign ticket booking systems service in China. CAAC is soliciting public opinions on the subject, with an eye to opening up airfare sales in the country.

Changing the existing regulations could end the requirement that foreign airline companies and ticket distributors use the TravelSky Technology. Instead, they will be able to use their existing booking and distributions systems, ending the market dominance of TravelSky Technology.

Shares in TravelSky technology were down 4.5% yesterday. Other major movers included Menzies and Multiplus (both down 2.7%) and Flight Centre (-1.3%).

Selected aviation suppliers daily share price movements (% change): 17-Jan-2011
