Boeing Next-Generation 737 Delivery Brings THY Fleet to 100 Airplanes

Analysis

Istanbul (BOEING) - At a ceremony held today in Istanbul, Boeing [NYSE: BA] and THY Airlines celebrated the delivery of THY's 100th airplane, a Boeing Next-Generation 737-800. Boeing delivered the airplane to THY on Aug. 17 in Seattle. By bringing its fleet to 100 airplanes, THY is continuing its steady growth and expansion program.

This latest 737-800 marks THY's 40th 737-800 and its 58th 737, with more deliveries planned in the future.

"As the new airplanes purchased by THY in 2004 and 2005 join our fleet, we continue to implement our strategy of profitable growth that is making THY a widely recognized global airline," said Temel Kotil, general manager of THY. "The 737 model has been a great contributor to THY's development, first with the 737-400 and now with the 737-800 model. The 737s are efficient and economic machines that allow THY to provide comfortable service to 103 international and 28 domestic destinations on three continents."

THY's newest 737-800 features a commemorative decal that identifies it as the 100th airplane to join the THY fleet. The airplane will be placed into service August 25.
