Auckland Airport receives claim from Air New Zealand

Analysis

Auckland International Airport Limited (AIAL) confirmed it

has received notice from Air New Zealand of a claim regarding judicial review

of the setting of new airport prices, including replacement of the airport development

charge with a passenger service charge payable by the airlines.

AIAL categorically refutes the claim and is firmly of the view that Air New Zealand's claim is without merit.

AIAL's CEO, Don Huse, said: "Three years of consultation regarding the setting of new charges was conducted by AIAL in strict accordance with the law and best practice.

"AIAL is entering the final year of a four-year, NZD500 million (USD385.9 million) capital expenditure programme. A fair and reasonable pricing framework that incentives airport investment is crucial. The action brought by Air New Zealand is most unfortunate. It will be strongly defended by AIAL."
