Airport traffic growth subdued in Dec-07, but outlook firm in many regions – ACI

Premium Analysis

The world's leading airports reported a 5.6% increase in passenger numbers in 2007 - in line with forecasts by Airports Council International (ACI). But freight volumes rose just 3% - around half the rate expected - due to the impact of the "unrelenting rise" in fuel prices, according to ACI, which forced shippers to seek alternative transportation modes in a highly competitive marketplace.
