Air Lease Corp finalises order for up to 60 B737s

Air Lease Corporation (ALC), a new aircraft leasing company launched by industry pioneer Steven Udvar-Házy and longtime aviation executive John Plueger in Jul-2010, has finalised an order with Boeing for up to 60 B737-800s, for deliveries through to 2017.

At Farnborough, ALC ordered 54 B737-800s, plus options for six more, plus 31 A320s and 20 A321s, as well as ATR equipment.

ALC has raised approximately USD1.3 billion of equity capital and approximately USD2 billion of committed debt financing. By spring 2011, the ALC fleet is expected to exceed more than 100 commercial jet aircraft.

Boeing's shares fell 0.8% on Monday, while Airbus parent EADS gained 0.6%.

Among the lessors, FLY Leasing fell 1.9%, while AerCap and Aircastle both dropped 1.6%.
