Singapore Seletar Airport
Singapore Seletar Airport is located in the northeastern region of Singapore. Established as a British Air Force Base in 1928, the facility served as the country's first international airport. Today, Seletar is managed by the Changi Airport Group and primarily handles international aircraft charters, medical evacuations and freight services. Seletar Airport is also home to Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) operations as well as flight training schools. In Nov-2014, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) announced plans for the airport to be demolished and rebuilt as a new facility equipped to handle more services, relieving traffic congestion at Singapore's primary gateway, Changi Airport. CAAS stated turboprop and other smaller aircraft operations will be transferred from Changi Airport to the new Singapore Seletar Airport to optimise runway efficiency. CAAS advised that construction works are expected to commence in 2015.
