About

Kiwi Regional Airlines was a regional carrier based at Hamilton International Airport, New Zealand. The carrier operated on a niche route system left unserved after Air New Zealand’s decision to suspend its services due to low demand. In Oct-2015, the start-up received full regulatory approval to operate commercial services from the CAA, and launched its first service on 27-Oct-2015 utilsing a 32-seat Saab 340A aircraft. It's initial route network included services to Queenstown, Nelson and Hamilton. In Jun-2016, Air Chathams announced the purchase of Kiwi Regional Airlines' sole Saab 340A, noting it would absorb the aircraft and offer employment to some of Kiwi Regional Airlines' staff in Aug-2016. Air Chathams plans to deploy the Saab 340A on Whanganui-Auckland service from 01-Aug-2016. Kiwi Regional Airlines operated its last scheduled service on 30-Jul-2016, and operated special charter services until 02-Sep-2016.
