Wizz Air to increase capacity in Poland by 25% in 2015
Wizz Air announced (26-Aug-2014) plans to expand its operations in Poland in 2015 with an additional A320 aircraft to be based in Katowice and Poznan from 29-Mar-2015 and 21-May-2015 respectively, as well as the launch of five new routes - see Route Changes Table for more information:
- Gdansk-Frankfurt Hahn: Twice weekly service to launch on 31-Mar-2015;
- Gdansk-Molde: Twice weekly service to launch on 30-Mar-2015;
- Katowice-Belfast: Twice weekly service to launch on 31-Mar-2015;
- Lublin-Stockholm Skavsta: Three times weekly service to launch on 21-May-2015;
- Poznan-Malmo: Twice weekly service to launch on 30-Mar-2015.
The carrier will be the only operator on each of the above routes, according to OAG. The announcement will bring to 18 the number of Wizz Air aircraft based in Poland, representing year-on-year capacity growth of 25% in 2015. The carrier will offer a total of 103 routes to 47 destinations from seven Polish airports in 2015. Wizz Air will also increase frequency on 21 existing routes from Gdansk, Katowice, Lublin, Poznan, Szczecin and Wroclaw in summer 2015.
