Wizz Air to expand Romanian operations in summer 2015
Wizz Air announced (10-Sep-2014) plans to expand its operations in Romania, with a ninth A320 aircraft to be based at Bucharest Otopeni International Airport from Jul-2015 and the following new routes - see Route Changes Table for more information:
- Bucharest-Heraklion: Weekly service to launch on 20-Jun-2015. The carrier will be the route's only operator;
- Bucharest-Pescara: Twice weekly service to launch on 27-Jul-2015. The carrier will be the route's only operator;
- Bucharest-Stockholm Skavsta: Twice weekly service to launch on 27-Jul-2015. TAROM also operates between Bucharest and Stockholm;
- Iasi-London Luton: Twice weekly service to launch on 14-Jun-2015. TAROM also operates on the route;
- Iasi-Milan Bergamo: Three times weekly service to launch on 31-Mar-2015. TAROM also operates on the route;
- Iasi-Venice Treviso: Twice weekly service to launch on 20-Dec-2014. The carrier will be the route's only operator.
The above route competition information is provided by OAG. Iasi becomes the eighth airport served by the carrier in Romania, with Wizz Air to operate a total of 97 routes to 15 countries from Romania. The carrier will also increase frequency on 22 existing services. Wizz Air executive VP John Stephenson said: "Today is another major step forward for Wizz Air in Romania.
