Wizz Air to double based fleet in Macedonia in Apr-2014
Wizz Air announced (05-Aug-2013) plans to double its based fleet in Macedonia at Skopje Airport - see Route Changes Table for more information. The airline will base a second A320 aircraft at the airport from 16-Apr-2014. The new aircraft will support the operation of 13 routes from Skopje and increase seat capacity in 2014 to over 680,000 seats. Wizz Air plans to expand its Skopje Airport network in Apr-2013 with the following three new routes:
- Skopje-Brussels Charleroi: Twice weekly service from 16-Apr-2013;
- Skopje-Frankfurt Hahn: Twice weekly service from 19-Apr-2013;
- Skopje-Paris Beauvais: Twice weekly service from 18-Apr-2013.
Wizz Air also plans to increase frequency on its existing Skopje routes to Basel Mulhouse, Dortmund, Eindhoven, Gothenburg, Malmo and Munich Memmingen from Apr-2014. Wizz Air EVP John Stephenson said the arrival of the airline's second aircraft at Skopje Airport will see Wizz Air's total fleet investment in Skopje increase to over USD160 million.
