US BTS reports 1.4% rise in system passenger numbers in Apr-2011
US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reports (14-Jul-2011) the following total system (domestic and international) traffic results for US airlines in Apr-2011:
- Passenger numbers: 60.5 million, +1.4% year-on-year;
- Passenger traffic (RPMs): +4.2%;
- Capacity (ASMs): +5.4%;
- Load factor: 80.7%, -0.9 ppt;
According to BTS, Delta was the largest US airline, by total scheduled system enplanements in Apr-2011. The top ten airlines are as follows:
- Delta: 9.4 million, +3.6% year-on-year;
- Southwest: 9.2 million, +3.5%;
- American: 7.1 million, -0.4%;
- US Airways: 4.4 million, +1.6%;
- United: 4.1 million, -6.3%;
- Continental: 3.8 million, +5.9%;
- JetBlue: 2.2 million, +7.4%;
- AirTran: 2.1 million, +2.5%;
- Skywest: 1.9 million, -1.5%;
