US Airways Group reports record third quarter profit before tax in 3Q2013

US Airways Group revenue up 9% - financial highlights for three months ended 30-Sep-2013:

  • Total operating revenue: USD3855 million, +9.1% year-on-year;
    • Passenger: USD3458 million, +9.3%;
    • Cargo: USD37 million, +5.5%;
  • Total operating costs: USD3427 million, +5.0%;
    • Fuel: USD915 million, +2.4%;
    • Labour: USD681 million, +11.7%;
  • Operating profit: USD428 million, +59.6%;
  • Profit before tax: USD336 million, +36.4%;
  • Net profit: USD216 million, -11.9%;
  • Passenger traffic (RPMs): +4.7%;
  • Passenger load factor: 85.5%, +0.6 ppt;
  • Yield: USD 16.75 cents, +4.4%;
  • Passenger revenue per ASM: USD 14.32 cents, +5.1%;
  • Total revenue per ASM: USD 15.97 cents, +4.9%;
  • Operating cost per ASM: USD 14.20 cents, +0.9%;
  • Cost per ASM excl special items and fuel: USD 9.20 cents, +2.3%;

US Airways Group: "2013 total system capacity is expected to be up approximately 3.5% vs. 2012 primarily due to larger gauge aircraft replacing smaller gauge legacy 737 aircraft and more long-haul international flying.
