US airlines report USD2.3bn operating profit in 2Q2012
US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported (25-Sep-2012) the following financial highlights for the largest scheduled passenger airlines in the US for three months ended 30-Jun-2012:
- Operating revenue: USD38,014 million;
- Operating costs: USD35,730 million;
- Operating profit (loss): USD2285 million;
- United Continental: USD583 million;
- Southwest*: USD460 million;
- US Airways: USD395 million;
- Delta: USD368 million;
- Alaska: USD191 million;
- American: USD122 million;
- SkyWest: USD42 million;
- ExpressJet: USD4 million;
- Net profit: USD670 million;
- Passenger yield: USD 14.7 cents;
- Revenue per ASM: USD 16.9 cents;
