Union pushes for alliance-wide employment standards

Australia's Transport Workers Union, which represent Qantas ground handling staff, announced it will meet with international unions linked to oneworld alliance airlines to push for group-wide employment standards and protections against outsourcing of labour (The Australian Financial Review, 06-Apr-2011). Unite, which represents British Airways staff, will attend the meeting, as will unions from airlines including Cathay Pacific, American Airlines and Mexicana. The unions plans to meet in Washington DC on 18-19-Apr-2011.
