Airservices Australia, DoD and Thales to deliver harmonised civil/military ATM system

Airservices Australia and the Australian Department of Defence (DoD) selected (27-Feb-2015) Thales to commence work with them on the development of the 'OneSKY' programme, which will integrate civil and military air traffic control into a single and harmonised ATM system. Thales has entered into an advanced eork contract arrangement which is theinitial step for the delivery of the OneSKY programme. The programme will make Australia the first country in the world to commission an integrated joint civil military air traffic management system. The single, modernised system will enhance navigation and communication capabilities to allow Australia to keep on top of global changes in aircraft technology. OneSky will be introduced via a phased transition from 2018 to 2021. OneSky will replace the current civilian system, The Australian Advanced Air Traffic System, which was first developed and commissioned in the late 1990s.
