Syphax Airlines suspends operations at end of Apr-2012

Syphax Airlines CEO Mohamed Frikha, as quoted by Tunisia Live, stated the carrier has temporarily suspended operations. The carrier's operations have reportedly been affected by Tunisair ground handling staff refusing to complete check-ins or baggage handling for the carrier, resulting in delays and flight cancellations. The carrier launched on 14-Apr-2012 operating from Sfax and Tunis with two A319s. The carrier intended to operate to North Africa and Europe, with services to Casablanca, Paris, Lyon, Nice and Marseilles. Tunisair Pilots Union representative Karim Elloumi said in late Apr-2012 that Tunisair had appealed to the Tunisian Ministry of Transport about Spyhax Airlines operating from Tunis.
