South Korea reports record international pax in Aug-2012, domestic pax down 5%
South Korea's Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs reported an 11.6% year-on-year increase in international passenger numbers to a record 4.7 million in Aug-2012. As reported by Yonhap, the increased passenger numbers was attributable to increases in outbound travel during the summer months and an increase in the number of tourists from Japan and China. According to the Ministry, domestic carriers had a 66.5% share of total passenger numbers while LCCs had an 8.3% share. Details include:

- Domestic: 1.9 million, -5.3% year-on-year;
- LCCs: 840,000, -2.8%;
- International: 4.7 million, +11.6%;
- China: 1.2 million, +12.3%;
- Japan: 1.1 million, +16.6%;

- Domestic: 1.9 million, -5.3% year-on-year;
- Cargo volume: 293,000 tons, -1.0%.
