South Africa reports boost in tourism numbers

South African Tourism (SAT) reported 30,024 tourists visited South Africa between Jan-2010 to Aug-2010 in comparison to 27,693 recorded for the same period in 2009 (Tribune, 17-Nov-2010). SAT Regional Director, Africa and Domestic Phumi Dhlomo stated the recently signed joint marketing agreement (JMA) between SAT and five leading outbound tour operators in Nigeria is "a further demonstration of its commitment and efforts to increase tourism arrivals into South Africa from Nigeria".
