SITA says passenger trends at airports evolving at 'fast pace'; demand for automated immigration

SITA regional director Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific Jay Youlten, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, stated (06-Aug-2014) passenger trends at airports have evolved at a "fast pace" with 96% of passengers now booking online, self-service bag drops resulting in "exceptional" savings in processing time and gate automation allowing for up to 50% reductions in carrier manning requirements. Mr Youlten noted 31% of passengers see the security check process as the top "pain point" and 91% of travellers are interested in an automated immigration process.
