Singapore Changi Airport pax down 4%, cargo up 1% in Jan-2015

Singapore Changi Airport reported (27-Feb-2015) a 3.8% year-on-year decline in passenger numbers to 4.4 million in Jan-2015. The decline is attributable to Lunar New Year falling in January in 2014. Not withstanding this, traffic to/from South Asia increased 5%, mainly fuelled by increased travel on India routes. Traffic between Singapore and Thailand continued to improve, increasing 22%. Among Changi Airport's top 10 destinations, Bangkok registered the strongest growth, up 34%. Cargo volume increased 1% to 151,800 while aircraft movements fell 5.2% to 28,800. [more - original PR]
