Shanghai Pudong Airport regains position as China's second busiest airport in 2015

Shanghai Pudong Airport, according to airport traffic data released by CAAC, regained (31-Mar-2016) its position as China's second busiest airport in 2015, overtaking Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. During the year Shanghai Pudong reported a 16.3% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers to 60.1 million while Guangzhou Baiyun reported a 0.8% growth to 55.2 million. The last time Shanghai Pudong's annual passengers exceeded Guangzhou Baiyun was in 2006, when the former handled 26.8 million passengers and the latter handled 26.2 million passengers. Chengdu Airport also improved its ranking from fifth to fourth position, overtaking Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, which fell to sixth position. Shenzhen Airport was the fifth busiest airport.
