SAS Group announced (14-Sep-2011) its new strategic platform that will see the airline focus on four key areas. The strategy "4Excellence" replaces "Core SAS", a strategy which SAS implemented with success in recent years. The airline group has reduced unit costs by 23% since 2008, recorded its highest customer satisfaction in 11 years and has been Europe's most punctual airline for the past two and a half years.
The group's four key areas will be in performance of its commercial, sales, operational and people divisions. A major part of SAS' drive to achieve sustainable profitability is the new goal to lower unit costs by 3-5% annually until 2015. This will be achieved through continued cost reductions, but also by strengthened focus on productivity improvements, including rolling out the new quality and efficiency programme, "lean".
