Qantas settles US freight class action

Qantas announced (14-Jan-2011) it has reached a settlement to resolve its liability under a class action in the US. A class action was brought against the airline in 2006 regarding the activities of its freight division. Under the settlement terms, Qantas will pay USD26.5 million, a figure which is based on Qantas' freight revenue to and from the US. The settlement remains subject to court approval. Qantas added that to date, the following airlines have reached settlement agreements: Air France-KLM (USD87 million), Lufthansa (USD85 million), Cargolux (USD35.1 million), SAS (USD13.9 million), Japan Airlines (USD12 million), All Nippon Airways (USD10.4 million) and American Airlines (USD5 million).
