Qantas confirms new A380 engine problems

Qantas confirmed it is in talks with Rolls-Royce over its latest problems with the OEM's Trent 900 engine (The Australian Financial Review, 03-Mar-2011). The airline stated on 15-Feb and 24-Feb pilots reduced power on one of the aircraft's four engines after learning the oil quantity was falling. Singapore Airlines, which also operates the Trent 900 on its A380s, has reportedly encountered the same problem five times.

Qantas: "The issue has been experienced previously, including by another Trent 900 operator, and it has been raised to Rolls-Royce. This incident was not directly related to the Rolls-Royce engine issue that affected all Trent 900 operators last year - it involved an external oil line, not the internal oil tube involved in the QF32 incident."
