Qantas announces three year, AUD1.5 billion cost saving programme

Qantas announced (19-Aug-2009) a new three-year cost reduction programme, 'Q Future', aimed at cutting costs by AUD1.5 billion (USD1.2 billion), including AUD500 million (USD414 million) in cost savings in the current fiscal year. The carrier will target efficiencies in areas including sales and distribution, fuel conservation, aircraft utilisation and schedules and procurement. Q Future is expected to build on the Sustainable Future Programme, which delivered over AUD550 million (USD456 million) in savings over the past fiscal year.
