Passenger traffic up 4.8% at European airports in May-2014
ACI Europe reported (07-Jul-2014) passenger traffic at European airports increased 4.8% year-on-year in May-2014 including a 4.4% growth at EU airports and a 6.4% growth at non-EU airports, which "show that the gap between the 'two-speed Europe' seen over the past three years, is narrowing - a reflection of continued economic recovery in the Eurozone." Freight traffic at European airports increased 6.3% and aircraft movements increased 3.2%. The industry body also noted the highest growth were seen at Milan Malpensa (+35.1%), Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen (+27.7%), Athens (+18.5%), Brussels (+16.1%), Lisbon (+12.1%), Ibiza (+10.4%), Bucharest (+137%), Chambery (+111%), Santorini (+42.6%), Belgrade (+27.5%) and Skopje (+24.07%).
