Osaka Kansai Airport LCCT to open on 28-Oct-2012

Japan's new Kansai International Airport Company (KIAC) stated its new dedicated LCC terminal at Osaka Kansai International Airport, Terminal Two (T2), is currently under construction, will open on 28-Oct-2012, according to a Shikoku News report. Peach has been confirmed to operate from the new facility, which will have no aerobridges and will have 17 commercial outlets including duty free and eateries. As previously reported, KIAC said it would collect a 40% lower facility usage fee from international passengers at its new LCCT than at its existing terminal with charges set at JPY1500 (USD19) for the new terminal. The new charge will be less than JPY2040 (USD26) at Tokyo Narita and JPY2000 (USD26) at Tokyo Haneda. Kansai International Airport's existing terminal charges are set at JPY2650 (USD34) per international passenger. Jetstar Japan CEO Miyuki Suzuki previously confirmed the carrier will consider establishing a second Japan base at Osaka Kansai once the airport completes expansion work on a dedicated LCC terminal. KIAC president Keiichi Ando welcomed Ms Suzuki's comments, adding the airport will continue to provide additional facilities for the LCC market.
