Oman Air's B787 order pending on test flight

Oman Air announced its decision to retain or cancel an order for six B787 aircraft through leasing company, Alafco, will be concluded following the completion of Boeing's test flight later this year (Reuters, 24-Sep-09). The delivery of Oman Air's B787s is expected to commence in 2014, a delay of the initial delivery schedule of 2012.

Oman Air: "I think we will take a decision once it has flown. Let's see when it flies. There have to be concerns about Boeing's ability to deliver that aircraft as it was originally designed. My predecessors bought it on the basis of a whole load of performance guarantees and delivery dates. So far Boeing haven't demonstrated that the confidence we put in it is going to be met in the near future. Boeing are playing it very close to their chest," CEO, Peter Hill.
