New Quito Airport handles 780,000 pax and 11,000 operations during first 61 days of operation

Ecuador's Quito Mariscal Sucre International Airport recorded (22-Apr-2013) 782,271 passengers and 11,092 operations during its first 61 days of operation. The airport also handled 129,359 tonnes of cargo, 94% of which was international. The airport has been open 98% of the time so far, with 1587 minutes of closure due to poor weather. The airport will receive eight buses for passenger transfer in Jun-2013 and plans to begin the second phase of expansion to better meet demand, including the installation of additional aerobridges and increased terminal space, from an unspecified date.
